Shiur is based of a letter written by Rav Kook in the Igros. Rav Kook explains the famous machlokes of Bais Shamai and Bais Hillel, Bais Shamai says that we go down in number (Poches V'holech) and Bais Hillel says that we go up in number (Mosif V'holech). Just as there are 2 directions in lighting, Rav Kook explains there are 2 directions in the history of Am Yisroel. It seems like there has been a Yeridas Hadoros, and like is apparent, we dont have the same caliber talmidei chachomim. But if we look deeper we can see that the generation is rising and there is and increased awareness of god in the world.
