Description

In this shiur we will address a fundamental issue in Halacha, one that arises with regard to an entire gamut of Mitzvot, namely, can one add a T'nai to his Mitzva? Meaning, can a person perform a Mitzva & stipulate a condition, which would make it feasible to null & void his mitzva if the condition is fulfilled? This will be relevant to Kriat Shema, Sefirat HaOmer, Tefillin, Afikoman, Tefilla, and Kabalas Shabbos. In all these cases I want to implement the Maaseh Mitzva but the mitzva is not being performed in the preferable way, but one is compelled to do so since the other option entails a risk of forfeiting even the basic 'bare bones' mitzva. The T'nai, if valid, will afford him the extra leeway he needs. Is there a problem of 'Breira'?
