Description

This is a piece in the Noam Elimelech about Rabbi Chanina Ben Dosa's comment about his tefillos (prayers) for sick people. The tzaddik, his tefillah, and the sick person were all together in potential in the infinite thought of Hashem. The essence of a tzaddik's life is through tefillah. The tzaddik mainly davens (prays) for the Shechina in galus (exile). Hashem still rewards the tzaddikim for their tefillos, even though they are doing what is in their nature. Yaakov was in Mitzrayim (Egypt) for 17 years, the gematria of 'tov' (good).
