Description

Based on Rav Tzvi Meir Zilberberg's Sichos Hischaskus Erev Shabbos Chazon 5759, P. 14. The first in a series about davening (praying) during the three weeks – what to think about, and how to improve our davening. Feeling the tragedies of our brethren. Shabbos Chazon (the Shabbat of foretelling) contains the pnimiyus (internal essence) of Tisha b’Av (the Fast of the Ninth of Av). The more dreadful the week, the more precious the Shabbas. We have to fulfill the mitzvah of Tisha b’Av with simcha (joy). The work of yomim noraim (days of awe) begins on Tisha b’Av. Sefer Devarim (Deuteronomy) is so special because it is the transition between the written Torah and the oral Torah. Why do so many people flock to the grave of the Arizal, and not to Hoshea Hanavi? We have an easier time connecting to the more recent gedolim (great people). Hashem had the greatest love for us as he separated from us at the time of the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash (Holy Temple). Our prayers are strongest at a time of destitution.
