Description
All tanaim accept the Issur of creating an temporary Ohel on Shabbat; Rashi writes that this Issur only applies with regard to the roof not the sides. Rebby Eliezer prohibits adding to a temporary Ohel; the Chachamim permit it. We will begin this shiur by attempting to define the nature of the Issur of creating an Ohel as a Tolada of Melechet Boneh. The Rambam combines Ohel with creating a kli, the latter is not an Av Melacha since it is not attached to the ground. It would seem from the presentation of the Rambam that Ohel is not an Av because it is not attached to the ground. We will see a number of differences between the Av of Boneh and the Tolada of creating an Ohel. Rashi admits to the Issur of putting up the 3rd Dofen of a Succa.
