      Rabbi Schachter shlit”a: I recently heard and appreciated the Rosh Yeshiva’s Chanuka shiur, which I downloaded from YUTorah. One matter which I was not zocheh to understand: Why is there no tumas mashkin on the oil? Is it not a mikra malai that olive oil is tameh? This appears to be the gemara’s kasha on Levi who says “bais midbachaya” and the gemara concludes that Levi must hold like Shmuel and that mashkim do have tumas atzman. Any help in understanding this would be appreciated.
