Description

Part of an internal shiur for YU Torah MiTzion Beit Midrash Zichron Dov of Toronto. What do the words "kvod tzibbur" mean in reference to women's aliyot, and may a community choose to forgive its kavod? Could kvod tzibbur be overridden in a she'at hadechak situation in which there were no alternative ways to fulfill kriat hatorah? If so, could it be overridden in order to encourage women to remain committed Jewishly? And what of the concept of overriding rabbinic law for the sake of "nachat ruach l'nashim"?
