Description

Methodology of Psak (Yeshivat Har Etzion): This shiur discusses the inherent ambiguity of texts and the implications for psak. In many cases, a posek must decide whether a text is meant to be legal, homlitic, sarcasitc, hyperbolic, etc. Poskim struggle to find rules or use context to solve problems. Still, intuition remains a central feature of how they read texts. The shiur deals with the question of whether embarrassing people is a cardinal sin, the extent of the obligation of women to cover thier hair, issues of eglah arugah, the paramters of permissible gender relationships, adoption, and other issues.
