As its title indicates, the premise of this shiur is that it is not a simple matter to accept upon oneself new stringencies (chumrot). One must be very careful in these matters and proceed with caution. An obsessive dedication to fulfill one's self-accepted customs and "fences" can ofter be the exact opposite of serving HaShem. We will begin our discussion by studying the "revolution" of Rebby Neir Simcha of Dvinsk in his Meshech Chochma.
