Description

6th shiur in Jewish Center University series, "Ancient Jewish History: Judaism & the Origins of Christianity." We discuss the well-known story of the Siege of Masada. What components of the story can we confirm or deny via archaeology? What are our sources for the story, and in what literary context does it appear? We explore what the answers to these questions can teach us about the Destruction of the Mikdash and resultant desolation of Judea, as well as our attitudes towards fellow Jews.
