A tremendous light was exposed at the time of the Besh"t HaK' that lasted until the Chozeh of Lublin. This was the same light revealed by the Zohar HaK' and the Arizal HaK'. The Besh"t was permitted to reveal the light in a way for men of the time. The light is founded in Pinimiyus & Sisrei Torah, brought a renewed vigor and clarity to serving God. The study of Mussar was also a light revealed to the world, which had a big revelation at the hand of Reb Yisrael Salanter zy"a. The light of Mussar is more focused on fixing one's traits.
