Description
Based on Chazon Ish, who establishes that a mitzva without a specified time engenders an immediate obligation that does not tolerate postponement, R' H. Schachter, shlita, writes in "Halachik Aspects of Family Planning" that one must take advantage of every opportunity to fulfill P"R if he has yet to father a son & daughter. No delay. In this shiur we will study a Sugya in Niddah, a Rambam in Hil Ishut (with the Mishna LaMelech), and the comment of the Baal HaAfla'ah, to prove that regardless of other mitzvot, P"R as a unique mitzva must not be postponed. This is so because of the spiritual element that defines this mitzva and its power to hasten the Geulah. Thus a man should not marry a ketana. LaErev is different and tolerates delay.
