Description

Ramban on Yaakov's Brachot comes down very hard on Shimon. Nevertheless, Shimon is included in the presentation of Yaakov. The Ramban in VeZot HaBracha observes that Shimon is omitted from Moshe Rabenu's Brachot. A second observation of the Ramban points to the fact that although both Yaakov & Moshe allude to Efraim and Menashe, Moshe explicitly blesses them and upgrades them to the level of Shvatim. The number 12 must be maintained. What is its significance? In this shiur, we will study a variety of comments of the Ramban in an attempt to get a grasp on the overall picture of Klal Yisrael. We will try to appreciate Yaakov's absolute disappointment in Shimon and Levy and the harshness of his words about their uncontrolled anger.
