Description

The Rambam begins Hilchot Talmud Torah with the exemption of nashim, but the braita includes women in the public reading of the Torah which is a form of Mitzvas Talmud Torah. In this shiur we will analyze the nature of the status of a woman vis-a-vis the mitzva of Talmud Torah. Do women have an obligation, under the mitzva of Talmud Torah, to study those mitzvot they are obligated to fulfill? Are women exempt from the mitzva of writing a Sefer Torah, and if so, why?
