Why does HaShem send Yirmiyahu to arouse the Avot & the Imahot from their graves to pray on behalf of their descendants? Couldn't G-d have done so Himself? And why didn't the Avot pray out of their own initiative? In this shiur we will try to suggest two alternative approaches to solve these questions & reveal the deeper meaning of this kina. The meaning of the taanit & aveilut of the 9th of Av will be understood in light of the obligation of Teshuva which is essential to this day. We are called upon to do our utmost to renew the love relationship between our people & the "Dod" whom we love with all our hearts.
