1. Title: Corridors of an Apartment Building
      Author: False == 1 ? Anonymous : Chaim Simons &##44;

Consider the case of a person living in an apartment building who whilst eating goes outside his front door into the corridor. Is this regarded as shinui makom? In Israel, every apartment dweller pays local taxes (arnona) on a certain proportion of the area of these corridors at the same rate as if it was an integral part of his apartment. Thus it might be considered that the apartment dweller has a part-ownership of this corridor, and thus going into the corridor will not be considered as shinui makom. Today’s poskim are divided on this question. (see: Rav Alexander Mandelbaum, Vezos Haberachah, page 57)
