Description

We typically think of the Mishkan and Beit HaMikdash as fundamentally the same. So why is the destruction of the Mishkan not given more attention? Why does Hashem treat David’s request to build a Mikdash as such a novel concept? What makes the Beit HaMikdash fundamentally different than the Mishkan, a stronger symbol of our eternal relationship with God, and more deserving of us mourning its loss?
