Description

Parshas Noach describes two global calamities in short historical succession. The Great Flood (Mabul) and the Tower of Bavel and its ultimate dispersion. The two events happen 350 years apart from one another. The Rebbe suggests that tragedy recurs when we fail to learn from history's lessons, and that the generation of the dispersal should have learnt from the generation of the flood. In a similar fashion, the Rebbe warns that we should not be complacent, and realize that calamities such as the Holocaust could G-d forbid recur if we do not work to build the Jewish community's soul.
