Description
A short Dvar Torah on Sedrat Korach.
Korach was playing a long game. He wasn’t looking to beat Moshe at the next day’s test, he was looking to be the one to give offerings and prayers on behalf of the people. Moshe was also aware of what was at stake, and knew that it was more than just the next day’s challenge. As the Ramban explained it, Moshe prayed for the ultimate salvation. Moshe prayed that Hashem never allow a rebel like Korach to get the chance to represent the people. The entire tradition of the Torah rests on the confidence the people have in their leaders as the carriers of God’s tradition. The Ramban looked for a deeper meaning in Moshe’s prayer because he knew there was more to Moshe’s fear than a one day test.
