Description

For Parshat Yitro we will study the controversy between BaHaG & Rambam re: is Anochi to be included in the Tarya, is it a mitzva, i.e. Emuna? The BeHaG is based upon a Mechilta which states "before you accept my ordinances, 1st accept my sovereign authority". On the other hand, the Drasha of Rav Simlai at the end of Makot adding 611#2 demonstrates the Ramban's view that anochi must be counted as a mitzva. The goal of this shiur is the defending of the Rambam aginst the attack of the Ramban, i.e. the second Dibbur ( לא יהיה לך) contains 4 mitzvos, and if TORAH tziva lanu Moshe calculates 611, those that we received thru Moshe, then we must add 5 mitzvot included in the 1st two Dibros we received directly from the Divine Being. 611 + 5 = 616!
