Description

He established a new method of learning. He was very close with R' Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev. His davening was legendary, with unbridled ecstasy. Tens of 1000's used to ask for berachos, including gentile royalty. Kozhnitzer Maggid began giving out kamayot (amulets). Reb Shlomo of Kozhnitzer led the misnagdim and referred to the Maggid derogatorily as the "new Baal Shem Tov." The Maggid had to leave Kozhnitzer and went to the Kedushas Levi. He eventually returned to Kozhnitz when Reb Shlomo was knocked out of the town.
