    1. Title: Question regarding the referenced Ramba"m
      Author: Yitzchok Ahisar
Lichvod Rabbi Schachter, The Rav in this shiur made reference to a Ramba"m that it is an embarrassment for us to say that machlokes in the talmud arises from having forgotten the torah given to Moshe Rabbeinu. I would like to ask, how does this fit with the words of the Ramba"m in Hilchos Mamrim 1:4, where he says that since we lost the Sanhedrin we began to have much machlokes in Halacha, and this happened before the time of the recording of the gemarah, so it sounds like we do have machlokes in gemarah due to forgotten or confused Torah? Also, Kesef Mishneh to that Ramba"m brings the source as Mesechet Sanhedrin 88b, where it says it was the students of Shamai and Hillel who did not learn enough from their teachers, and this would probably affect the machlokes in gemarah? Also Mesechet Sota 47b, the "zechuchei halev" who relied on their own understanding instead of the mesorah and made mistakes leading to machlokes, as well as the aforementioned students of Shamai and Hillel who did similarly, would this not be what the Ramba"m says is an embarrassment to say? Thank you very much, Yitzchok Ahisar
