In this shiur we will study Biblical couples with an eye towards the unique relationship between Yitzchak and Rivka. In order to do so, we will first analyze the special quality of Yitzchok. The Torah uses the word "Pachad" to define the relationship between Yitzchak and the Almighty. In the encounter between Yaakov and Lavan, Yaakov declares that it is "Pachad Yitzchok" which saves Yaakov from Lavan. We will study a variety of interpretations of this phrase. The Netziv will contrast the marriage between Rivka & Yitzchak and the other marriages in Sefer Bereishis. Yitzchok belongs to a different world, and Rivka's Chesed must complement Yitzchok's Din. What can we learn from Pachad for our own daily lives?
