The Torah does not mention Rosh Hashanah to be the day to crown Hashem as king or to ask for life and parnassa. Chazal revealed that later. Hoshana Rabba was revealed to be part of judgment only much later. The Emes L'Yaakov explains why. Delivered to a vaad of shana aleph talmidim at Yeshivat Har Etzion.
