Description
Rav Soloveitchik's famous drasha about the dreams of Yosef as a paradigm for the Mizrachi's break off from gedolei Yisrael in the early 1900's. Yosef went against and caused himself to become completely cut off from his beloved and revered brothers. Why? Because he saw and knew that history was going to play itself out in a way would would demand innovation and acceptance of new modern realties. Only by embracing new realities would survival continuity be possible. The brothers did not accept this and fought for the old way to be maintained. History paskened like Yosef, as it was the fruition of his dreams that kept the Jewish people alive. This paradigm repeated itself almost identically with the Mizrachi's departure from the Gedolim.
