Rav Gedaliah Schorr- Yaakov could have reveled the truth and transformed esav's evil, but he did not. Why? He reasoned that future generations, watching him would attempt to do the same and "out-truth" our adversaries, but if this would be done incorrectly and improperly it could have catastrophic ramifications. Yaakov couldn't allow this and therefore because he knew the WE are watching he bowed out and went on the run.
