I was very impressed with the shiur, but I feel like it did not touch on one critical point. In the Ibn Tibbon translation, the standard, of the Rambam's commentary on the Mishna states in relation to the Gemara that a war is only not reshut if it is conducted against "those who kill them", clearly not a preemptive strike.
