Description

In this week’s class we focused on two aspects of the menorah- the ‘kindling’, which uses the specific word ‘to cause (the flame) to rise up’. The Sfas Emes explains that really the act is only momentary but the pasuk still calls it “tamid”, constant. The same is true by shema- if we say it properly with the right fervency, so it too will keep us ‘burning’ for the rest of the day. We also learned that when one breaks down another persons actions- “kosis”, it should be “lamaor”, to show them the right way, not to put them down.
