Description

In the instruction to Abraham, Hashem uses multiple vague references to who He wants him to sacrifice. Rashi provides three answers, the last being ‘ to give Abraham reward for each instruction’. The Sfas Emes explains that in reality this was a sign for future generations to follow his ways- even though he could immediately accomplish the task, he built up to it slowly. We, too, should take our growth step by step. And, as learned from Abraham after the Akeidah, a way to do so is by staying humble in the aftermath of each achievement.
