A first cousin of the Ramban, Rabbeinu Yonah was of the illustrious Rishonim in Medieval Spain. Despite his rabbinic upbringing, one of his rebbeim led him into opposing the Rambam’s works vehemently. We discuss this controversy and the aftermath for Rabbeinu Yonah’s life and legacy. In that light, we learned the introduction to his “Shaarei Teshuvah”, ‘Gates of Repentance’.
