Masechet Sanhedrin 6b-7a: the various opinions in the Beraisa re: פשרה, and the differences between them. What does מצוה mean in this context? Should the Judges present two options, דין and פשרה, and ask the litigants what they prefer? The debate as to when the latest moment that permits the Judges to suggest פשרה?
