Identifying and defining the core Halachik issue in Kiruv: גדר איסור מסייע לעוברי עבירה. We premise this shiur with the absolutely crucial role of הכנסת אורחים in Kiruv. The powerful means to be מקרב thru a Shabbat meal cannot be overstated. But suppose the guest will drive to the host's house on Shabbat. It would seem that there is no violation of Lifnei Iver since the guest will drive wherever he would want to, but what about the prohibition of מסייע לעוברי עבירה? What arguments could be put forth to be lenient on this issue? What conditions must be met in order to permit this invitation? We will discuss possible Heterim based upon the Shach as interpreted by the commentaries, as well as a Heter developed by HaRav Shlomo Zalman Orbach.
