Masechet Zevachim BIyun 33a: תיקף לסמיכה שחיטה.The Kesef Mishna assumes according to the Rambam that if this principle was violated then it's no better or worse than the omission of סמיכה. That's fine בדיעבד since Smicha is only שיירי מצוה.
