Overview of (1) The sources in chumash, mishnah and gemara which complicate the picture of how halachah views fetal life; (2) The possible explanations of why one may not take the life of a fetus; (3) The different views regarding justifications for taking the life of a fetus, and at what points during pregnancy one may do so; (4) application to four questions: (a) Aborting to avoid Tay Sachs; (b) Aborting to avoid severe post-partum depression; (c) Use of the "Plan B" pill; (d) Providing anesthesia during an abortion.
