We seek to analyze the concept of מלאכה המתקיימת as it applies to three Melachos:: קושר בונה וכותב. Our main thrust will be on קושר. Why must it be a קשר של קיימא and not a קשר לשעה? How is this Melacha different than בונה where a בנין לשעה הווי בנין? Is the requirement of a permanent קשר a unique Halacha in Shabbos, i.e. Meleches Machsheves, or a universal definition of קשר? Can I borrow someone's Tefillin and make a temporary קשר?
