As we begin the Parsha, we first examine the meaning of the world Toldot. Does it simply mean descendants or something more? The answer helps us identify not just an underlying theme of the Parsha, but of all of Sefer Bereishit. We then move into the content of the Parsha itself and discuss the connection between the two things Yaakov takes from Eisav - the bechorah (birthright) and the bracha (blessing). What binds these two together? In the middle of the shiur there is also a powerful tangent on Christianity being linked to the solar calendar, Islam being linked to the lunar calendar, and what it means that Judaism is deeply linked to both the solar and lunar calendars.
