For Masechet Shabbat 102b: בנין בכלים לשיטת הרמב"ם, the Rambam accepts the opinion of Rav and establishes that there is Meleches Boneh in כלים. In the case of breaking a חבית the Rambam accepts the view of the Ramban against Tos' and codifies the principle of אין סתירה בכלים. A כלי is not a בנין, hence, there is no Melacha in destroying a כלי. But yet the Rambam establishes that connecting two pieces of wood is a Meleches בנין. This seems to contradict the Ramban! He began making a כלי but never completed the task. We will try to present a cogent understanding of the Rambam's view based upon the insights of HaRav Isser Zalman Meltzer.
