Description

Before even opening Sefer Bereishit, we take a step back to examine what Chumash is. Why is Chumash so important? What is the essence of the Torah itself? We analyze critical sources that give us a sense of the cosmic importance of the Torah, what it means to engage the text of Chumash, and the mindset we should have when learning the stories and laws contained within it. We then explore the different ways to actually learn the text, offering a novel approach to learning Chumash that is focused on embracing all layers of Torah while mining the depth of the overall narrative of Chumash as a whole, each Sefer, and every individual Parsha. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
