Description

Masechet Sanhedrin 60b-61b: Defining the forms of Idolatry that engender a death sentence. The significance of כדרכה i.e. the normal way of worshipping a particular idol, and שלא כדרכה i.e. an unusual method of worship. Certain forms of worship are absolute, others are relative and require כדרכה. What so we derive from the separate verse prohibiting bowing? What is the law of one who is not interested in the worship of the idol but is angry at God and intended to spite God? What is the law re: one who verbally commits to worship a deity but has not yet done so? How is the law of an individual idol worshipper different than that of a community - an עיר הנידחת?
