In his philosophical writings, the Rambam distinguishes between sequence (קדימה) in the material world, i.e. the world of time - event A preceded event B - and conceptual sequence - event A caused event B. In the latter category, both A & B may have emerged simultaneously in material time. One or more of the giants of Halacha make reference to the Rambam & apply the distinction to Halacha. Thus the money given to a woman is transformed into כסף קידושין with the & by virtue of the קידושין itself. But do we not need the כסף in order to generate the קידושין? The Rogetchover quotes the Rambam & establishes simultaneity. Thus activating the principle of באים כאחת. The sun generates rays, but both emerge simultaneously.
