For our study of Masechet Shabbat and Hilchot Shabbat we will study the fundamental concept of מתעסק which is relevant to many Halachot in the Torah, e.g., Nezikin, Mitzvot, etc. Our focus is an Aveira that was done in a מתעסק situation whereby the violator is exempt from the normal obligation of a שוגג, i.e., no קרבן חטאת is brought. We seek to understand the פטור מתעסק בשבת ובכהת"כ. In Hilchos Shabos there is a unique פטור of מתעסק that extends beyond the universal פטור מתעסק. The unique פור is another example of the application of the rule of מלאכת מחשבת.
