We will focus of the comment of Rashi to Masechet Shabbat 74a and the analysis of Rebby Menachem Zemba of the great controversy re: חצי שיעור במלאכת שבת. Rashi applies the general rule of Chatzi shiur to Meleches Shabos. This generates an Issure DeOraisa. The Rashbam writes that Chatzi shiur is not a Meleches Machsheves and therefore would not generate an Issure DeOraisa.
