The Mishna in Niddah 61b addresses the situation of a כתם, but the question is: is this blood or perhaps a red dye? בדיקת ז סממנים. Our study will focus on the view of the Rambam that if as a result of this test the stain cannot be removed or even faded, is she טהורה לבעלה? And what if there is no possibility of a בדיקה, do we assume it is דם? What about our times when we cannot implement this test since we do not know the identity of these chemicals? Our shiur will present the view of the Toras HaShlamim to the effect that we should apply the universal principle of ספק דרבנן לקולא. In contrast, R' Akiva Eiger maintains that the universal rule is inapplicable here because of the possibility of בדיקה, i.e. of clarifying the ספק.
