This Derech HaLimud shiur is meant to introduce a chapter in the subject of 'the complex Halacha', i.e. the status of a Halacha that is made up of two or more parts or elements. This chapter will address the following חקירה: In the integration of two Kiyumim that join to form a whole, does the primary Kiyum 'swallow' the secondary Kiyum & alter its status? The bulk of this shiur will address the status of the recitation of three sections added to Shmoneh Esrei of Mosuf of Rosh Hashana. Ostensibly this is a Mitzva DeRabanan. We will try to present a cogent interpretation of Rashi according to which these sections - when integrated into the blowing of the Shofar - gain an upgraded status of a Mitzva DeOraisa.
