Description
Who is the young Mosheh and why does Hashem select him for the unique task of taking Israel out of Egypt? Clearly the answer lies in Mosheh’s stubborn devotion to intervening situations where the strong are oppressing the weak. With the help of Rav Mosheh Lichtenstein and Nechama Leibowitz we examine the nature of this commitment to justice, and ask the perplexing question of why, if Mosheh is so insistent on getting involved to help the oppressed out in ch.2 of Shemot, why is he so hesitant only a few verses later in ch.3 to accept Hashem’s invitation to redeem Israel from Egypt?!
