For Masechet Niddah 67b we will study the status of עיון, i.e. her checking her body to be sure that there is nothing attached. Is this it an absolute requirement? Can this check serve the same role as חפיפה if she found a חציצה? The Rashba says 'yes' and therefore she does not need a replacement Tevilla. The Ran says that who can guarantee that her עיון was perfect and reliable? Only a חפיפה סמוך לטבילה is reliable and validates her Tevilla.
