Description

Parshat Devarim opens with a reexamination of Chet HaMeraglim, the Sin of the Spies. Why is this how we open the Sefer? Why do we read this Parsha every single year on Shabbat Chazon, the Shabbat before Tisha B'Av? We explore the deep problems that led to Chet HaMeraglim and the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash and how Sefer Devarim sets out to repair these these broken aspects of Klal Yisrael. This shiur sets the stage for the entirety of Sefer Devarim and is essential to fully experience Tisha B'Av. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
