The sugya in Niddah 67b establishes the requirement of סמוך לטבילה חפיפה. How long of a time period between the חפיפה and the Tevila can be allowed? In certain cases there must be a separation since the חפיפה must take place by day but the day is endowed with קדושת היום and חפיפה is impossible. Rav Huna is willing to use these exceptional cases (לא אפשר) as paradigmatic for cases that would lend themselves to Chafifa right before Tevila (אפשר). The sugya seems to reject Rav Huna, but it is not clear what the final conclusion LiHalacha is accepted by the sugya. Part of the sugya seems to conclude that the חפיפה if it cannot take place by day directly prior to the Tevila at night, then the חפיפה should take place at night before tevila.
