Description

Chazal tell us that the Makkah of Choshech, the plague of darkness, was a supernal darkness that came down from the heavens, stopping the Egyptians in the tracks. What is the nature of this darkness? We explore the deeper meaning of this plague and why this darkness was so miraculous. We also learn how the very same darkness of the Egyptians was itself light for the Jews! Through our discussion we address why when we feel far from Torah learning and tefillah it can become hard to engage them and how to overcome that feeling of bitterness and reconnect to the inherent sweetness of Torah and tefillah. (Shemot, Bo: Netei Yadcha al HaShamayim Vayehi Choshech, pp. 73-74)
