Derech HaLimud: Kelaim & Bittul, only 1 of the 2 materials mixed together lends itself to shaatnez. Applying the law of Bitul, the Tashbetz permits adding wool to the mixture of linen and hemp (קנבוס) since the linen was בטל. We find a basis for this in a Mishna in Negaim (11:2) regarding a Beged vis-a-vis Tuma'as Begadim, the Mishna is lenient re: a mixture of sheep wool with camel's wool. The latter is not able to establish a שם בגד & if it is the רוב it sets up ביטול regarding the sheep wool. Similarly we find with regard to water that was טמא & was mixed into the flour, is the dough טמא? R' Yossi says yes, apparently defining the mixture as שכונית; R' Meir sees the mixture as מיזוגית & the water is בטל. מים טמאים שנתערבו בקמח, the מים
